Since 1936. Player must have played a game in the NFL, AFL, or AAFC. When paired with a team, player may have either been drafted in the first round by that team or played at least one game with that team in their career. Includes NFL, NFL Supplemental, AFL, and AFL Redshirt drafts.

Since 1967. When paired with a team, must have appeared in a game for the team (regular season or playoff game) during the Super Bowl-winning season to qualify. When paired with a non-team category, does not need to be in the same season (but still must have appeared in a game during the Super Bowl-wining season).
